This presentation was recorded for the Free Herbalism Project held virtually on November 12, 2021.
Clinical herbalist, field botanist, and nutrition educator, Shana Lipner Grover takes us through an engaging and entertaining look at some of the unsung herbal heroes of immunity. Shana explains how the immune system works in relationship with the other systems in the human body and how both moisture and movement play a vital role in maintaining a healthy balance. This educational talk guides us through our body’s immune responses, the role of our mucosal membranes, and how we can harness resiliency through our herbal allies. Enter unsung heroes, demulcents and lymphatics. Shana gives due recognition to some of her favorite demulcents including marshmallow, cheeseweed, and chia seeds and lymphatics including calendula, cleavers, and ceanothus.
Shana was a student of award-winning author Michael Moore and also one of Mountain Rose Herbs' favorite herbalists, Howie Brounstein. Today, she is the director and primary educator of Sage Country Herbs School of Botanical Studies in San Diego, CA.
